AC Milan 1 – 0 Juventus: Rossoneri Record First Victory Over Juve Since 2012

AC Milan recorded their first win over Juventus since 2012 as they won 1-0 against the league champions on Saturday.

Milan got the win courtesy of 18-year old midfielder Manuel Locatelli, who blasted the ball past goalkeeper Gianlugi Buffon. It was not a day to remember for the Bianconeri, as they had a goal ruled out and lost striker Paulo Dybala to injury.

The match was Milan coach Vicenzo Montella’s 200th game as a head coach in the Serie A, and the win moved them to just two points behind Juventus at the top of the table.

It’s the first time since the 2010/11 that Juventus would lose both league visits at the San Siro, having also lost to Inter earlier in the season.

Liverpool 2 – 1 West Brom: Reds Sweep By Baggies With Ease

Coutinho Mane Liverpool

Liverpool recorded what was an easy three points as they beat West Bromwich Albion by two goals to one.

The goal they conceded however meant they wouldn’t be able to rise to the top of the table just yet. The Reds took the lead early, with Sadio Mane and Phillipe Coutinho finding the back of the net in the first half.

West Brom’s Gareth McAuley however scored a late volley that meant Arsenal remained ahead of Liverpool on goal difference.

Coutinho was instrumental for the Reds on the field, sparking the move that led to the first goal, before getting his own name on the score sheet in the 35th minute.

Perez: I Expected To Be Starting Regularly At Arsenal

perez

Arsenal striker Lucas Perez appears disappointed at the bit role he is playing at the club, as he expected to be the go-to striker for the gunners.

The forward joined the premier league club in August for £17 million and has only played over a hour in the EPL since then.

With Alexis Sanchez impressing as Arsenal’s first-choice central striker, Perez is aware he will have to wait for his opportunity to shine.

“When I first arrived here I expected to have more of a starring role,” he told Onda Cero.

“The team-mates that are playing in my position are doing a great job. We have won seven games in a row and, at the end of the day, the coach wants what is best for the team.

“I had hoped to have more playing time, but what I have to do now is make the most of the opportunities I get.”

A 30-year-old Brazil-based Nigerian hairstylist has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) after attempting to smuggle cocaine into the country.

The suspect, Nnaji Juliet Ijeoma, was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos on Friday.

Officials discovered that the suspect’s brassiere was filled with narcotics when screening passengers coming off a South African Airways flight. If the suspect had succeeded smuggling in the drug into Nigeria, she stood to reap the sum of N1 million from her sponsors.

The NDLEA commander at the Lagos Airport, Commander Ahmadu Garba said in a statement “A thirty year-old lady by name Nnaji Juliet Ijeoma was arrested on her way from Brazil following the discovery of 535 grammes of cocaine hidden inside her brassiere. The incident is being investigated and she will soon be charged to court.”

The suspect, a Diploma holder in Mass Communication, said in her statement that that she smuggled the drugs because she needed money.

Her statement read: “I work as a hair stylist in Brazil where l reside for the past two years. I studied mass communication but because of lack of job, I work as a hair stylist in Brazil. I was approached to smuggle cocaine to Nigeria and I accepted because of the money involved. I needed money for my personal problem. The drug was prepared inside brassiere and given to me to put on. I did not know how it was packaged. My role was to smuggle the drug to Nigeria and collect the sum of one million naira.”

The NDLEA boss added that efforts are ongoing to unmask other suspected members of the syndicate who are working with International Drug Trafficking Organisations in Brazil.

All Government Institutions Are Corrupt – VP Osinbajo

Recruitment in Nigeria

Nigeria’s Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has stated that the current administration’s fight against corruption will touch every sector in the society because all government institutions in the country are corrupt.

The VP made the assertion on Friday at the 2016 convocation ceremony of the Afe Babalola University in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti state.

According to Osinbajo, re-orientation is key in the fight against corruption in the country.

His words: “I have a great respect for Chief Afe Babalola because of his stand against corruption. Sometimes in 2002, Chief Babalola argued the case for the establishment of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission where he let the court realise that corruption is the greatest problem of our nation.

“All the institutions of government, I mean the executive, legislature and the judiciary are corrupt. What we need is serious reorientation. That is why ABUAD is a great university because it teaches knowledge, character and morality. So, value reorientation is a key weapon to fight corruption.

“That is why the Federal Government is intervening, because if we refuse to act, every facet of the country will fail.  We must act fast and deal with the situation as quickly as possible.”

The vice president also urged the graduands to be honest and trustworthy, and to acquire skills beyond the scope of their disciplines.

He continued: “You must be trustworthy and honest apart from being skillful and resourceful to be able to make a great impact in the future ahead of you.”

“You must reflect on the values they have inculcated in you in the institution and be conscious of the fact that Nigeria, your country, must be great, which can be achieved with your contributions.”
